Huge turnout at carnival
Floats
It is hoped the carnival will raise money for charity
Thousands of people turned out on a wet Monday night to see the last of this season's Somerset carnivals.

Dedicated clubs have been raising funds to put on the final parade in Weston-super-Mare.

Two clubs - Shambles from Shepton Mallet and Masqueraders from Glastonbury - were contenders for the title of overall champion.

There were more than 100 entries in the parade, with some floats using up to 300,000 light bulbs.

Carol Burchell, carnival committee secretary, told the BBC: "If people look at this as an evening's entertainment, then asking them to put into the collection tin is not an unreasonable request."

Last year, 100,000 people turned out to watch the Weston carnival and raised £14,000 for local charities.
