Bush visit

Tony Blair has once again been obliged to defend the decision to invite President Bush on a state visit. Police leave is cancelled, the protesters are plotting, and the Labour Party is muttering its disapproval. But why shouldn't the President come to town?

We examined what effect the visit will have on Mr Blair's relations with his own party.

Lord Black

Lord Black is to step down as chief executive of Hollinger International, the company that owns the Daily Telegraph and the Jerusalem Post amongst others. Some or all of the group's titles may now be sold. We looked at why this press baron is so hard up.

China

And in the second of our films on China's move to a market economy, our business correspondent Paul Mason reported on the social costs of the changes. More workers leave China's countryside for the cities each year than the entire working population of Europe. Can China's politicians manage change on this scale?
