Pensioner dragged by carjacker
A pensioner is recovering after being dragged along a road as he tried to stop a car thief.

Tommy Rogers, 78, suffered leg injuries as he tried to stop a man who snatched the keys to his Vauxhall Corsa.

He was pulled along Main Street, East Ardsley, West Yorkshire, as he clung onto the steering wheel.

The incident happened on Sunday outside Mr Rogers' home following a trip to his allotment.

Dragged along

He said: "I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself but it could have been a lot worse.

"I'd been down to the allotment for some potatoes for our Sunday lunch and some flowers from the greenhouse.

"When I got back I left the keys in the boot while I unloaded the potatoes and then I felt a hand on my shoulder and this man said 'I want your car', reached up and took the keys.

"I thought he was joking, but when he climbed into the car and put the keys in the ignition I realised he wasn't.

"I grabbed hold of the keys and steering wheel but he got the car to shoot forward and dragged me with it."
