EastEnders wedding tops ratings
BBC TV soap EastEnders attracted 16 million viewers on Friday for its episode in which Kat Slater ditched her fiancé at the altar for Alfie Moon.

It topped the day's TV ratings, and was also an increase of four million viewers from last Friday's show.

But it was still beaten by the return to the soap of Dirty Den in September, which drew an audience of 16.6 million.

ITV's Coronation Street drew 12.7 million viewers on Friday, while Emmerdale got 9.6 million.

Britney defends sexy image

Britney Spears has defended her sexy new image, saying that she is still a role model for young girls.

The 21-year-old recently hit the headlines for kissing Madonna at the MTV awards, as well as for a string of revealing photo shoots in magazines.

"A lot of people think those covers are over-explicit, but that's their opinion," Spears told the Radio Four show Woman's Hour.

"I think it's a positive thing to express yourself in a positive light."

Halle Berry speaks out over split

Actress Halle Berry says she is still dealing with the pain of separating from her second husband Eric Benet.

"I'm getting used to it," said the Oscar-winning star, whose latest film Gothika premiered in LA last week.

"I used to say that if there was a loser in town, I'd find him. But I don't say that anymore. ... I'm going to find the right man."

Gothika, co-starring Robert Downey Jr, sees Berry playing a psychiatrist accused of a murder she can't remember.

Glover given humanitarian award

Lethal Weapon star Danny Glover has received a humanitarian award from a civil rights organisation in the US.

The 56-year-old was presented with the Fred L Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award from the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute in Alabama.

Glover was chosen for his work with the United Nations. He said he was honoured "beyond any expression of words" to receive the prize.

The award is named after a baptist minister and civil rights activist.

Pop Idol favourite voted out

Andy Scott-Lee, 23, has become the latest contestant to be voted out of the Pop Idol finals.

He lost the final vote to fellow hopeful Susanne Manning in the disco-themed show.

The result was seen as a surprise as Andy, the brother of former Steps member Lisa Scott-Lee, was said to be one of the favourites to win.

Andy scored two top 20 hits in 2002 as a member of the band 3SL, managed by his sister.
