New appeal for death clues
Martin Simpson
Martin Simpson was well-known in Leicester's bars and betting shops
Relatives of a grandfather who died after a night out almost a year ago are making a fresh appeal for information.

Martin Simpson, 59, was found with head injuries on Albion Street in Leicester and later died in hospital.

Despite a £5,000 reward for clues, police are no closer to finding out what happened.

An inquest into Mr Simpson's death is due to open on 25 November.

Found unconscious

Mr Simpson was a well-known and well-liked character in Leicester's bars and betting shops.

He left the High Cross pub on the High Street early in the evening of 22 November last year to visit his mother, who was unwell.

A taxi driver found him unconscious in the early hours of the following morning.

Mr Simpson's friend John Waldrom said: "I can't believe no-one has come forward."
