Care services get £17m boost
Care facilities for elderly and disabled people in Shropshire are to benefit from £17m of Government funding.

The money will be spent on wide-ranging improvements to six projects aimed at boosting the standard of services across the county.

One of the projects is currently waiting for planning approval from local councillors.

They are being asked to approve proposals for a new building alongside the Meole Brace resource centre.

It includes provision for 20 beds and will provide day care and short-term residential facilities for people who would otherwise need to be in hospital.

Another planning application has been made to replace the resource centre in Eskdale Road, Shrewsbury, with a new building.

It will cater for adults with learning disabilities and offer the wider community services and resources.

Another day care centre is planned at Ludlow.
