Calls to boost police numbers
More police are needed on Nottinghamshire's streets - according to 8,000 people who have signed a petition demanding more officers.

The Police Authority will take the petition to the Home Office in the next few weeks.

It argues the county faces crime on the scale of a metropolitan authority, but does not have matching resources.

Nottinghamshire Police Authority Chairman John Clarke said they want a meeting with the Home Secretary.
