Row over green belt home plan
New homes
A final decision is to be made in December
Almost 3,000 residents have written objecting to green belt land in Berkshire being dug up to make way for hundreds of new homes.

Planning officials are recommending that sites in Wexham and Castleview Road in Slough should be earmarked for development.

Their move follows a report which says the release of the green belt for housing "is fully justified and there is still a need for these greenfield sites to meet housing needs".

Slough Borough Council is expected to discuss the report at a meeting on Sunday evening.

The community fears the housing plan will be given the green light, despite their objections.

Campaigners, including David McIssac, the independent councillor for Wexham, say the land "is too precious and must be conserved".

The final decision will be made at a full council meeting on 16 December.
