Prisoner dies week after hanging
Wandsworth Prison
The prison has 1,460 inmates
A man has died in hospital a week after being found hanging in his cell in south-west London.

Kevin McSweeney, 35, was on suicide watch at Wandsworth Prison where he had been remanded in custody charged with attempted robbery.

Staff found him hanging in his cell on 7 November and resuscitated him.

He was taken to St George's hospital in Tooting, south-west London, where he was put on oxygen, but died on Saturday morning.

An internal investigation into the circumstances of Mr McSweeney's death is to be held by senior governors from other prisons.
