Hunt protester accused of horse attack

An anti-hunting protester was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a horse during a clash with huntsmen in Kent, on Saturday.

Kent Police said a group of about 20 protesters had been following the Ashford Valley Hunt when the incident took place.

The confrontation occurred between Wateringbury and Tonbridge.

Police said two anti-hunt activists were arrested for alleged assault after officers were called to the scene when disturbances broke out.

One of the arrested men was held after being involved in an alleged altercation with a member of the hunt.

But the second protester was said to have been arrested after allegedly striking a horse with a home-made whip.
