A 25 year-old man has been shot dead outside a party in Liverpool.
Eugene Ogunboro was shot twice with a shotgun in the early hours of Sunday morning in the Toxteth area of the city.
Residents in Falkner Street heard the gun fire at about 0330 GMT and called the emergency services.
The victim - who is from the Toxteth area - was taken to the Royal Liverpool University Hospital by a number of men in an F-registered dark green Volvo before the ambulance arrived.
The crime scene was cordoned off and officers were carrying out house-to-house inquiries on Sunday.
'No wider threat'
Police said the man had left a party at a flat in Falkner Street shortly before he was shot.
One of the lines of inquiry was that Mr Ogunboro had been involved in an argument at that party.
Superintendent Colin Matthews, of Merseyside Police, said: "We believe that this incident involves people who were known to each other and essentially does not represent a threat to the wider community."
Officers said Mr Ogunboro was slim, of athletic build, about 5ft 9ins tall and with short, cropped black hair and a goatee beard.
They have appealed for anyone who saw him on Saturday evening to come forward.
Police also want to speak to the people who took him to hospital.
