Man was taken to hospital by an ambulance crew
A man is being treated in hospital for serious head wounds after being found unconscious on the Springfield Road in west Belfast.

The police said he had been the victim of a serious assault.

He was taken to hospital by an ambulance crew who discovered him at about 2300 GMT on Saturday.

He had no identification and the police had appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

The 33-year-old man is described as 6ft tall, with tattoos on both his arms.

Police later said the man had been identified.
