School building survey raises standards

Survey on how school buildings are being used.
A survey is under way to find out how much communities actually use their local schools.

The study in Oxford follows research which suggests that those schools used outside lesson time have better behaved pupils with higher achievements.

An online questionnaire will ask people whether they use their school buildings out-of-hours for meetings or evening classes.

Education bosses in the county want to ensure schools are being used, not only to raise educational standards but to offer something to local people.
