New jobs mark store's reopening
A supermarket giant is creating new jobs to mark the reopening of a site in Cumbria gutted by fire eight months ago.

The Safeway store in Working has been closed since March after a fire destroyed most of the site.

The company, which is reopening the rebuilt store on 26 November, says it will be creating about 30 new jobs.

The store's original 200 employees have been working at other Safeway sites throughout Cumbria since the fire.

A spokesman for the company said: "We've taken on 30 new members of staff and some have transferred from Whitehaven. We will have 215 workers in total now.

"Although the store looks the same as the old one, on the inside the layout inside is very different. We've got new features like a meat counter, photo processing and a big homeware department."

More than 70 firefighters from across the county fought the fire in March.
