A man and a woman from Liverpool have been arrested in Northern Ireland as police seized drugs worth an estimated £300,000.

Cannabis and ecstasy were found when police stopped and searched a car in Belfast.

The couple had arrived on an overnight ferry from Liverpool to Belfast when they were arrested.

It follows another drugs seizure in Northern Ireland on Tuesday when cannabis resin worth £250,000 was found in Larne, County Antrim.

Two days later grandparents Paul McSween, 49, and his wife Barbara 51, from Lathum Close in Prescot , Merseyside, appeared in court charged with possession of the drugs and possession with intent to supply.
