Police are trying to identify a man with a Sonic the Hedgehog tattoo on his arm who was found lying unconscious in the street.
The dark-haired man, who is believed to be aged in his 30s, was admitted to York District Hospital with multiple injuries.
He was found at 2320 GMT on Friday on Holgate Road near to St Paul's Terrace in York.
Police have urged anyone who recognises the description of the injured man to come forward.
