Police target bad drivers
M60 orbital motorway
Drivers who weave in and out of lanes are being targeted
Dangerous motorists who cause accidents through poor driving are being targeted by police in Greater Manchester.

Officers will clamp down on drivers who weave in and out of lanes and cut up other drivers when leaving the motorway.

Police vehicles will be at key junctions on the region's motorway network as a warning to drivers.

Motorists who cross the hatch markings when entering or leaving the motorway will also be targeted.

Inspector Paul Cross said: "Many accidents are caused by poor and impatient driving.

'Unacceptable driving'

"Some drivers leave lane changing manoeuvres till the last second and weave between the lanes from the outside lane across several lanes of heavy traffic to leave the motorway.

"This causes other drivers to take evasive action to avoid these thoughtless drivers. It is unacceptable."

He added that police would be focusing in particular on the Eccles interchange - where the M62 joins the M60 and M602.

The campaign will run until Christmas.
