Police are hunting a man who tried to abduct an eight-year-old boy as he walked to school with his sister.
The man grabbed hold of the boy and tried to drag him into a blue van in Adwick Le Street, near Doncaster, on Tuesday morning.
The youngster managed to break free but was left shaken and distressed by the ordeal.
South Yorkshire Police say they are treating the incident "very seriously" and have been interviewing witnesses who reported seeing a man and a woman driving off in the van.
Acting Inspector Colin Wilson said: "We want to appeal to any witnesses in the area and have been out and about stopping the public who were around at the time."
