A Derby man has been jailed after the woman he indecently assaulted as a child identified him after watching a documentary about sex abuse.
The 24-year-old woman, who came forward 17 years after the original attack, said she would not have revealed her ordeal, but decided to report the incident after watching the television programme.
Derby Crown Court heard that she named Desmond Riley of Waterford Drive in Caddesden as her attacker.
Riley, 47, denied indecent assault but was convicted of the offence by a jury on Friday.
Jailing Riley for two years, Judge Brian Appleby QC said the victim had been deeply affected by being touched indecently by him.
Judge Appleby said if it was not for the television programme, she may well have kept the secret to the grave.
