Queen opens cricket centre
The Queen in Derby
The Queen spent most of the day in the East Midlands
The Queen has opened a visitor's centre at Derby Cathedral in her third visit to the city in six years.

She looked around the new cathedral garden and stopped to greet and accept gifts from a few of the well-wishers who turned up to see her.

A special chair last used by Queen Victoria in the 19th Century during her visit to Derby was unpacked for Queen Elizabeth II's tour.

The Queen also visited a new cricket academy at Loughborough University in Leicestershire and toured the £4.5m building with the Duke of Edinburgh.

The facility houses one of the world's largest indoor cricket centres.

The couple also met local sporting celebrities including MP and Olympic medallist Lord Coe, who is a graduate of the university.

The Royal couple will also meet market traders and shoppers in Chesterfield in Derbyshire at a weekly outdoor market.
