Berry hoaxed by MTV's prank show
Halle Berry and Robert Downey Jr
Berry eventually got in for the screening
Oscar-winner Halle Berry has fallen foul of an MTV stunt after doormen barred her from the première of her film Gothika in the US.

The actress rowed with the doormen before discovering she was duped by music station's prank show Punk'd.

The show's host Ashton Kutcher, who is dating actress Demi Moore, was seen grinning behind Berry as she argued.

Gothika sees Berry play a criminal psychologist accused of a murder she has no memory of committing.

The première was also attended by fellow stars Penelope Cruz and Robert Downey Jr, as well as Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett.

She split last month from husband Eric Benet
Berry is not the only star to have been caught out by Punk'd - others include pop stars Justin Timberlake, Pink and Kelly Osbourne.

She also hit headlines last month after announcing her separation from her husband, R&B singer Eric Benet, after less than three years of marriage.

The couple met in 1999 and tied the knot in 2001. This is the second marriage for the Oscar-winning actress.

Her profile has risen hugely in recent years, through roles in the X-Men films and as a Bond girl in Die Another Day.

In 1999, Berry won a Golden Globe and an Emmy award for her portrayal of Dorothy Dandridge, the first black woman to be nominated for an Oscar.

She became the first black woman to win a best actress Academy Award in 2002 for her role in Monster's Ball.
