Activists make Bush effigy
Bush effigy
The group plan to topple the effigy during the President's visit
A group of peace activists from Suffolk are building an effigy of George W Bush, in preparation for the American President's visit to London next week.

The Theatre of War group are building the 18 foot high statue in a garden in Bungay.

It is made of chicken wire and papier-mache, and there are plans to have a mini Tony Blair peeping out of the President's pockets.

Mell Harrisson from Theatre of War said: "We've got our props from other shows that we're using to make sure his hands are in the right position.

"President Bush's arms are very important to him ...so we've got to get it just right."

The statue will be raised and then toppled in Trafalgar Square, London, on Thursday.

A giant bronze statue of Saddam Hussein was torn down by US forces in Baghdad in April in an act symbolising the end of the ruler's regime.

George Bush is in the UK for three days from next Wednesday and is the first full state visit by a US leader since Woodrow Wilson in 1918.
