Theme park trains youngsters
pupils at Fantasy Island
Fantasy Island workers will teach pupils from a local school
A class of pupils is being attracted to a theme park for its skills instead of its thrills.

Fantasy Island in Skegness is showing teenagers from Earl of Scarborough School different trades such as engineering and electrical work.

"It is very different than school as you don't have anyone to distract you - it is easier to concentrate," one pupil said.

John Anthony of Earl of Scarborough School in Skegness said the idea is to ask local businesses what sort of training is needed.

The teenagers have each chosen a trade as part of this on-the-job approach to vocational learning.

Fantasy Island hopes some of the trainees will taken on as apprentices when they leave school.
