Rapist jailed for second attack
A convicted rapist who drugged his victims has been jailed for eight years for another attempted rape in Northern Ireland.

The 32-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, tried to rape a student within a fortnight of attacking another woman in south Belfast.

The man plied his victims with drink and drugs and once they were asleep sexually assaulted them.

Both victims were 21-year-old students and the attacks happened within 10 days of each other at his flat in south Belfast.

The man is already serving six years for raping the first woman and was jailed for a further eight years on Thursday for attempting to rape the second victim.

The judge told the man that he was developing a technique for sexually assaulting women and it was only because of the courage of the two women involved that prevented other women being attacked.

The man who protested his innocence throughout claimed he was being victimised for being nice to people.
