A man has been arrested after a teenager was shot in the leg from a passing car in Coventry.
The 19-year-old was hit as he stood outside Eastern Fried Chicken in Stoney Stanton Road at 0100 GMT on Thursday.
A 28-year-old man was arrested shortly after the incident and is helping police with their inquiries.
West Midlands Police said shots were fired from a green Ford Mondeo in which there were three men.
The victim was treated for a wound to the right leg in hospital. His condition is described as stable.
Forensic examination
Officers are investigating the possibility of a dispute between the victim and the offenders but a force spokesman said there was no clear motive for the shooting.
Detectives are waiting to speak to the victim and forensic teams are examining the scene.
Detective Inspector Pete Lewis, from Stoney Stanton Road CID, said: "We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or any dispute shortly before.
"There would have been people in the area at the time, as well as a number of taxis.
"We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area or travelling through the area who may have information to assist this investigation."
