Brockway's weather warning
By Derek Brockway
BBC Wales' weatherman

Derek Brockway
The Met Office has issued an early warning for Friday when severe gales are expected.

Gusts of 70 or 80 mph are likely in places - that's strong enough to cause damage and bring down trees.

Ferries will be disrupted and take care on the roads as driving conditions will become difficult or dangerous.

The west then north Wales will bear the brunt of the wind.

There'll be some wet weather too, not a day for being on the mountains - some heavy rain for Snowdonia.

Further south, it won't be so bad - drier and a little brighter but still windy with blustery showers.

The strong winds and gales will ease later tomorrow afternoon and evening and thankfully the weekend is looking much calmer.

There's likely to be a few showers with some frost and fog in places but some dry weather and sunshine as well, especially on Sunday.

On Thursday night gusts of up to 75 miles an hour were recorded at Holyhead on Anglesey.

Trees were blown down in Carmarthenshire and roads were flooded in Ceredigion.
