Police cordoned off the scene
Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a woman's body in an Exeter road.

The body of the woman, who had head injuries and is believed to be in her 60s, was found by walkers at the side of the A396, Stoke Road, just past Cowley Bridge, at about 1120 GMT.

The area around Stoke Road has been cordoned off and forensic teams are at the scene.

Police have arrested a 66-year-old man from Crediton on suspicion of murder. He is being questioned at Heavitree Road police station.

The identity of the woman has not yet been revealed.
