Uganda has been criticised for its involvement in DR Congo's civil war

BBC Radio 4's Crossing Continents was broadcast on Thursday, 20 November at 1100 GMT.

The programme was repeated on Monday, 24 November at 2030 GMT.

Tim Whewell investigates Uganda's involvement in the long running civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

DR Congo comes to terms with the end of a long war

He sees how one of the world's most abused countries is still being despoiled by foreigners with a vested interest in continuing bloodshed.

And he asks whether Britain has used its considerable influence in Uganda to restrain the appetites of some of the country's most powerful figures.
