Police hunt sex attacker
Police have appealed for help catching a sex attacker one year after he assaulted a 13-year-old girl in Greater Manchester.

The teenager was attacked at a bus stop in Ashton-under-Lyne on 15 November 2002.

She was waiting for a bus in Katherine Street, near to the junction with Oldham Road, when a man who was also waiting at the bus stop assaulted her.

She is believed to have seen her attacker in the Ashton area in July 2003, leading detectives to believe he is a local man.

Detective Constable Tony Greenhough, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "A year on from this attack the teenager is still devastated.

I would urge people to think whether any of their family members or friends match his description

"After the incident her confidence was totally destroyed and she is still receiving counselling, even now, to help her come to terms with what happened.

"She has only recently begun to go out on her own again and we need to catch the man who has ruined the last year of her life.

"As the girl saw him in July we have been able to gain more information about his appearance and we know that he had a limp at this time.

"I would urge people to think whether any of their family members or friends match his description."

The man is white, aged between 45 and 50, of medium build, slightly overweight, with a chubby face and a dimple in his chin and wore glasses.

Police said they were not sure whether the man's limp was permanent or the result of an accident.
