Man beaten with baseball bat

An 18-year-old man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a paramilitary-style attack in Londonderry.

He was beaten on the arms, legs and stomach with a nail-studded baseball bat, the police have said.

Two masked men approached him as he sat in a vehicle outside a community centre, in the Creggan area of the city, late on Wednesday night.

They smashed the windows and forced their victim to get out before assaulting him.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
