Man dies after car fall
Serge Mvuanda, who died
Mr Mvuanda had been living in Manchester for four months
Police in Manchester are trying to establish how a man came to fall out of a moving car, suffering fatal head injuries.

Serge Mvuanda died hours after falling from the Renault 25 car in Gorton on Halloween.

He fell ill at a friend's house about two hours after the incident on Bennett Street, which happened at about 1700 GMT on 31 October.

He was transferred to a high-dependency care unit after being taken to hospital, but lost consciousness and died last Sunday.

Mr Mvuanda was living in the Moss Side area before he died, after moving to the UK to seek asylum from his native Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in July.

Witness appeal

Greater Manchester Police are trying to find out whether there was anyone else in the car when the incident took place, other than the driver.

They said Mr Mvuanda was picked up on Wenlock Way, in the light blue Renault driven by another asylum seeker, before the car was driven down Kniveton Road and on to Bennett Street.

Following the incident, Mr Mvuanda went to his friend's house in nearby Anthony Close and fell ill about two hours later.

He was later taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, before being moved to Hope Hospital, where he died.

Superintendent John Brinnand said: "Our hope from this appeal is to locate anyone who may have seen the car and can help us understand how Serge died.

"The incident occurred at about teatime on Halloween, so we would expect a number of people to have been out trick or treating who may have seen this car as it drove down Kniveton Road."

Mr Mvuanda was married and had three children, aged eight, three and five, who are still living in Kinshasa in the DRC.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and later bailed pending further inquiries.
