Views sought about urban village
A series of workshops is to be organised to give people in a Devon town the chance to comment on plans for a so-called urban village.

Development company Arnold White Estates wants to build it on old quarrying land near Newton Abbot.

The development at Kingsteignton would be likely to contain thousands of houses as well as retail and industrial units and facilities such as shops and parks.

The site is on hundreds of acres of old ball clay quarrying land in the Bovey Basin.

The developers have had an initial meeting with Kingsteignton Parish council, where the main worries expressed were about the traffic implications.

There is no provision for the proposed village in the current local plan, but the developers are keen to hear what local people have to say.

They have organised information-gathering workshops for the New Year.
