Man jailed over crash deaths
A former rally driver has been jailed for five years for killing his fiancée and another woman in a high-speed crash.

Shrewsbury Crown Court heard on Wednesday how 24-year-old Ian Roberts was driving at 100 mph on the A41 Whitchurch bypass in Shropshire when he hit another car head-on.

Roberts' fiancée, 17-year old Laura Reynolds, from Whitchurch, was a passenger in his BMW and died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the other car, Louise Evans, a 26-year-old law student from Telford, died later in hospital.

Roberts, from Grindley Brook, had originally denied causing two deaths by dangerous driving, but later admitted the offences.

The court was told he was showing off when the accident happened in September 2002.
