Power cut puts village on generators
Pylon
Villagers have had to rely on temporary generators for power
Scores of residents in an Oxfordshire village have had to rely on temporary generators brought in after a major power cut.

Engineers worked through Tuesday night to restore electricity supplies to villagers in Wardington, near Banbury.

Power went off in the village just before 1045 GMT on Tuesday morning - affecting more than 130 homes in the area.

A spokesman for electricity company Aquila said back-up generators were moved into the area from Cannock in Staffordshire.

Extra staff were also called in to operate the generators during the night.

Engineers were in the village for most of Tuesday trying to repair an underground cable and restore power.
