Fake drink warning
A council has sent out a warning over fake bottles of vodka which may be circulating in Shropshire.

The bottles of Kirov Vodka are contaminated with methanol which causes poisoning.

The counterfeit bottles are easily identified because they have plain red tops.

Methanol has been found in 70 cl and 35 cl bottles.

Symptoms of methanol poisoning include severe stomach pains, blurred vision leading to blindness, drowsiness and dizziness and breathing difficulties.

David Edwards, operations manager for Shropshire County Council, said:

"Due to the serious risks involved from this counterfeit product we are asking members of the public who think they may have come across this product to contact their local trading standards service immediately."
