Schools website launched
Schools can share their creativity
Schools can share their creativity

A new interactive schools directory is being launched for children across Northern Ireland to share their creativity on the internet.

The Adream project gives each school its own free website where they can showcase their work and put it in the public domain.

These websites allow young people to upload works of art, drama, music and literature to their site, and they will be moderated by teachers to ensure safety.

Websites have already been created for many of the schools, but the project will be officially launched at Belfast's Waterfront Hall on Wednesday by BBC Northern Ireland presenter Donna Traynor.

'Display board'

Adream director Gary Cullen said: "The project has the potential to link schools, not only locally but also globally.

"We have links with schools in Sydney, Italy and Spain. By creating a virtual environment, I think the project makes it easier for our young people to engage wherever they are."

He said the response from schools had been tremendous.

"Pupils see it as a display board for their endeavours and because it is electronic it can be held for posterity," he said.
