Vandals halt paramedic's 999 work
A paramedic was prevented from answering out-of-hours 999 emergency calls after vandals targeted his car three times in one week.

East Berkshire paramedic Mike Slatter believes the vandals keep targeting his unmarked silver Vauxhall Vectra thinking it is a police car.

Mr Slatter found his car covered in building sand on Wednesday morning.

His windscreen wipers were tampered with on Thursday night and his number plates were stolen during a third attack overnight on Friday.

Mr Slatter works for the Royal Berkshire Ambulance Trust during the day and then provides evening cover for 999 calls in the Knowl Hill area of Maidenhead.

Angry and disappointed

"I am disappointed and just don't understand the mentality of members of the community who would damage a vehicle which serves them," said the 26-year-old.

"I also feel a mixture of anger and annoyance at what they have done to my personal property."

Mr Slatter is now hoping to find a garage for his car to prevent further attacks in the future.
