Two horses have been killed after being hit by a car during early morning fog.
A red Renault Laguna was in collision with the animals that were loose on the A21 Pembury bypass southbound carriageway just before 0140 GMT on Tuesday.
The driver of the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital.
A vet attended the incident but the two horses died from their injuries.
Another three were rounded up and returned to their owner.
A Kent Police spokeswoman said the horses were believed to have escaped from a nearby field.
Both carriageways of the A21 between Pembury and Tunbridge Wells were closed until 0520 GMT.
