A Union flag has been stolen from outside the Guildhall in Newport, Shropshire.
The flag had been put up for Remembrance Sunday on the High Street.
It was taken between 1400 and 1600 GMT on Sunday.
West Mercia Police say several panes of glass were damaged at the premises.
A spokesman said: "Stealing the Union Jack, particularly on an occasion like this, shows an enormous lack of respect and is actually quite mindless."
They are urging anyone with information to contact them.
