A 19-year-old British man could face the death penalty after being arrested on drug trafficking charges in Thailand.
Thai police say they seized 3,400 ecstasy tablets from Michael Alan Connell of Bury, Greater Manchester at Bangkok's International Airport on Monday night.
Security officials allegedly found the pills in his travel bag.
A customs official said they were detected by an X-ray scan.
Mr Connell had travelled from Britain to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates before flying to Bangkok.
He was detained by Thai police and is due to appear in court on Wednesday.
A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said British consular staff visited him earlier today.
If found guilty, he could face the death penalty.
