Husband accused of wife's murder

A 53-year-old man has appeared before Bradford magistrates accused of killing his wife.

Ali Akhtar is charged with the murder of 38-year-old Mariam Ali.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Bradford Crown Court next week.

The body of his wife was found at their home in Ure Crescent, in the White Abbey area of the city on Monday.

A post mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as strangulation.
