The 36 pieces were ornately decorated
Thousands of pounds worth of porcelain have been stolen from a collection in North Yorkshire.

The 36 pieces of Imari Royal Crown Derby were taken from an address in Low Osgodby, near Thirsk on Monday morning.

The haul of items - which are decorated with 22-carate gold - includes a large elephant, four candlesticks, eight paperweights and a number of plates and bowls.

A police spokesman estimated the value of the items at "several thousand pounds".

The thieves were disturbed by another person as they loaded a hatchback car with the stolen porcelain.

The three young men were seen driving away from the scene towards Bagby on the A19.
