One of Mildenhall's major employers has confirmed it is to shut down its plant in the town with the loss of about 100 jobs.
The US-based pharmaceutical company Schering-Plough has announced it is to end manufacturing, production and packaging operations.
The announcement comes despite efforts from local community leaders, the East of England Development Agency and MEP Richard Howitt to try to persuade the company to change its mind.
Schering-Plough says it will shut down in phases, though the exact timings are still to be determined.
It says the Mildenhall plant is no longer financially viable.
The company has had a base in Mildenhall since the late 1970s.
