Inquiry into suspicious death
Police are investigating after a man was found with head injuries which proved fatal after going out to buy a paper.

Peter John Allan left his home in Bluebell Close at 1000 GMT last Sunday to buy a newspaper.

The 43-year-old was found less than half an hour later in Maple Avenue, Gillingham, with serious head injuries.

He was taken to Medway Hospital and transferred from there to King's College Hospital in London, where he died on Wednesday from his injuries.

Kent Police said on Saturday they were treating his death as suspicious.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Monday.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen Mr Allan between Bluebell Close and Maple Avenue.
