Club looks for stadium deal
Britannia Stadium
The Britannia Stadium cost £15m to build
Stoke City Football Club is continuing its efforts to take sole ownership of the Britannia Stadium.

It is asking an independent firm to estimate how much the city council's share in the ground is worth.

The club wants to take 100% ownership of the £15m stadium, which is part-owned by itself, the local authority and Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration.

The city council said it would not be prepared to accept anything less than £3.1m for its share, the amount it invested to help build the 28,000 capacity all-seater stadium.

Stoke City said it had asked a third party to work out the value of the local authority's shares to help a deal to be struck.

The Britannia Stadium, which is built on land once owned by the National Coal Board, opened its doors in August 1997.
