Funeral for stabbed baby
Hassan Dominic Martin
Hassan was stabbed in front of his mother
A funeral service has taken place for a 10-month-old baby who was stabbed to death in a city centre bakery.

Hassan Dominic Martin was stabbed in the neck in the shop in Scotch Street, Carlisle, on 21 October.

About 150 family and friends gathered at St Bede's Church for the service.

Father John Winstanley, who had baptised Hassan, told the congregation that no-one could make sense of or try to understand what had happened.

He had been attacked while with his mother, Lorna Martin, 20, who also suffered cuts to the wrist.

Hassan's father, Shahajan Kabir, 39, from Bangladesh, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court on 31 October charged with his murder.

Mr Kabir was also charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Hassan's mother, and grandmother, Pauline Martin, 40.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Preston Crown Court on 13 January.
