Rovers fans buy share in club
Scheme members pay £2.50 weekly
Supporters of Bristol Rovers have taken a step forward in their campaign to be the club's main shareholders.

A cheque for £105,000 for a share certificate is being handed over during Saturday's match against Hull City.

Bristol Rovers Supporters Club now have two seats on the board of directors.

The club's shareholding scheme, which has been in operation for less than a year, is aimed at raising £3.5m to buy a 28% stake.

Saved from relegation

Nearly 1,000 have joined so far and the target is to recruit 5432 members.

Scheme spokesman Steve Martell said: "When we launched this we were determined to make a real difference to Bristol Rovers.

"For example we have helped save the club from relegation to the Conference League by helping to finance the signing of Andy Rammell."

They also put funds towards the acquisition of Junior Agogo.

Rovers director Kevin Spencer said the behind-the-scenes work that had gone into the shareholding scheme was recognised and appreciated.
