'Senseless' attacks baffle police
Ball bearing gun
Ball bearing guns can cause serious injuries
A man has been injured in a pub car park in what police believe could be the latest in a spate of random attacks with ball bearing guns.

The man, who was not seriously hurt, was injured while getting back into his car at the Plough Inn in Gresford, Wrexham, on Friday afternoon.

IThis latest incident follows a series of gun attacks which have happened in the same area since September.

Police are unsure whether the man was shot but they have said they are treating it "very seriously".

'Completely random'

The man was returning to his car after putting rubbish into environmental waste bins when he was injured at about 1300 GMT.

"The scene of the incident was roped off forensic teams were called and the area was searched," said Detective Constable Andy Jessop from North Wales Police.

"We are treating this incident very seriously because it could have been a lot worse.

"The attacks have been completely random.

"I don't think there is a reason, no-one or no property has been particularly targeted they are completely senseless."

The incidents began two months ago when properties in Rhostyllen, Gresford, Pen y Bryn and Acrefair were damaged by ball bearings.

Earlier this month, there was another spate of incidents including an attack on the Black Lion pub in Rhostyllen and at a house in Holt Road.

In the latest incident on Friday the victim was injured, although he did not need hospital treatment.

Police have urged anyone with information about the attacks to contact them on 01978 294614.
