Politicians to stay put
Senator Len Norman
There were calls for Senator Len Norman to resign
The leadership of Jersey's Harbours and Airport Committee will remain unchanged.

Vice President Deputy Lyndon Farnham has announced he is to stay in the post, under Senator Len Norman, despite calls for both men to resign.

The committee faced a vote of no confidence in the States this week over its handling of the Emeraude affair.

The troubled ferry company's Solidor Five vessel was impounded last month because it owed £300,000 in unpaid harbour dues.

The committee survived by one vote, and there were immediate calls for Senator Norman to resign.

But Deputy Lyndon Farnham refused to speak in the debate, since he had actually been against impounding Emeraude's vessel.

Some members have called on him to resign but he says he is staying to work with the committee and its president.

Deputy Farnham is also chairman of the island's Tourism Board.
