Driver charged after pensioner's death
A man has been charged in connection with an accident where a 71-year-old man died.

Jack Fallowes was struck by a car on the A682 Colne Road, Burnley, on Thursday night as he was crossing the road.

Mr Fallowes, who lived on Cardinal Street in Burnley, died from his injuries at the scene.

Lancashire Police said Zahid Shafi, 38, of Colne Road, has been charged with a number of motoring offences.

He will appear before Burnley's magistrates on Monday.

Mr Shafi has been freed by police until Monday's appearance.
